Wide Range of Capabilities

Engineered Plastic and Urethane Manufacturing Capabilities Available Through The Rubber Group

The Rubber Group customers have access to DPI's full range of precision plastic and urethane manufacturing capabilities — coordinated through your existing The Rubber Group relationship.

The Rubber Group is ISO 9001:2015 certified, IATF 16949:2016 certified, and AS9100D certified — quality management standards that govern every process, from material selection through final inspection.

UHMW-PE Injection Molding

Proprietary injection molding of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) for wear-intensive, high-load, and chemically demanding industrial applications. UHMW-PE delivers a combination of properties no other plastic matches at its price point, offering self-lubrication, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, and noise reduction. It outperforms most metals in abrasive environments and is substantially lighter, making it a proven metal replacement across industrial applications. Products include sprockets, wear strips, conveyor guides, rollers, bearing blocks, drag paddles, and custom wear solutions engineered to extend equipment life in abrasive environments.

DPI's presses can produce single-shot UHMW parts weighing up to approximately 20 pounds with footprint dimensions up to 4' x 4'. Multi-shot processes accommodate complete assemblies exceeding 30 pounds. Wall thickness is not a limiting factor — DPI regularly molds parts with walls up to 4 inches thick.

DPI regularly overmolds and insert molds using UHMW-PE  including bearings, threaded inserts, steel components, and dissimilar plastics. If your application requires embedded hardware or a combination of materials within a single UHMW component, we will find a solution.

CNC Machining of Engineered Plastics

Precision CNC machining of high-performance plastic materials to tight tolerances for complex geometries and application-specific configurations. Products include machined wear parts, structural and precision-fit replacement components, and custom brackets across industrial sectors.

Thermoforming

Custom forming of thermoplastic materials for large-format and complex-profile assemblies where injection molding tooling costs are prohibitive or part geometry requires an alternative forming method. Products include formed liners, covers, guards, trays, and large-profile structural pieces.

Urethane Casting

Cast urethane for exceptional wear resistance, impact absorption, and design flexibility. Products include urethane rollers, wheels, wear pads, liners, scrapers, and impact-absorbing applications for demanding industrial equipment.

Overmolding and Insert Molding

Plastics molded around inserts or secondary materials for integrated, multi-function assemblies. Products include insert-molded bushings, overmolded handles, and composite wear parts requiring bonded material performance.

MultiFab Hybrid Design

DPI's proprietary multi-process manufacturing approach combining injection molding, CNC machining, urethane casting, and custom fabrication within a single production workflow. Products include complex mixed-material assemblies, hybrid wear components, and custom engineered solutions.

In-House Tooling and Design Engineering

Complete tooling design and fabrication on-site, supporting all plastic and urethane manufacturing capabilities with full control over development timelines, engineering iteration, and production quality from prototype through full-volume production.

How The Rubber Group Customers Access Plastic and Urethane Manufacturing

Accessing DPI's precision plastic and urethane manufacturing capabilities through The Rubber Group requires no new supplier relationship, no separate onboarding process, and no additional procurement complexity. As a The Rubber Group customer, you bring your full component requirements to your existing rep or contact and we manage the specifics. If a project includes plastic or urethane components, The Rubber Group coordinates directly with DPI's engineering and manufacturing team to scope the requirement, align on material and process, and deliver a complete solution to you.

DPI compounds its own UHMW resin and has modified virtually every aspect of the standard injection molding process to accommodate UHMW's non-standard flow properties. That level of development is why so few manufacturers offer this capability — and why DPI's molded UHMW performs consistently where others can't.

The commercial objective is straightforward: one relationship across a broader group of engineered polymer capabilities. Customers receive access to precision rubber, plastic, and urethane manufacturing through a single point of contact — with the engineering depth of both organizations working on their behalf.

About Diversified Plastics Industrial Solutions, a Precision Plastic Manufacturer

Diversified Plastics Industrial Solutions is a Missoula, Montana-based precision plastic manufacturer. Since 1976, they have been engineering custom plastic and urethane components for demanding industrial applications.

DPI has developed proprietary injection molding capabilities for ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE), a material and process combination that very few manufacturers in North America offer. DPI offers multiple UHMW-PE formulations — including high molecular weight blends reaching 4.4 million molecular weight — selected based on the specific performance requirements of each application. Their engineering team works directly with customers through the design process to identify the right formulation, ensure there are no surprises in performance, and dial in critical tolerances through an iterative tooling process. Where dimensions require extra precision, DPI's in-house CNC machining capabilities finish-machine near-net-molded parts to exact specification. Their molded UHMW materials have been validated through extensive internal testing and third-party laboratory verification — with wear life data and material property documentation available to customers for review.

Their in-house tooling and design engineering capabilities give them complete control from concept through production, enabling faster development cycles, tighter tolerances, and multi-process solutions that most plastic manufacturers cannot replicate.

Their MultiFab Hybrid Design approach — combining injection molding, CNC machining, urethane casting, and custom fabrication within a single production workflow — allows DPI to manufacture components that no single process could produce alone.

With a national customer base spanning egg processing, food processing, lumber and forestry, water treatment, agricultural, mining, conveying, and general industrial markets, DPI's engineering depth, customer-focused approach, and problem-solving culture align directly with The Rubber Group's values — and extend the range of solutions available to customers across both organizations.
